Remove the rules that constrain your solutions
An ancient fable said that, whoever could undo the “Gordian knot” would become King of all Asia. Everyone who tried to untie the knot failed. Then Alexander the Great tried, and met with similar failure. Finally, he
used his sword to cut the knot in half.
The knot fell apart and Asia (later) was his.
Process:
- What are current product/ service practices and “rules”?
- Which of these are constraining your solution?
- Try relaxing, bending or breaking the rules – what new solutions emerge?
- See if these solutions are doable or if new solutions can be redone to conform to the rules
